Babe of Wabash County
I can still remember the very first time I walked into a Babe Store. I had no idea what it was or how it would impact my life. My name is Katey Till. I am the Executive Director of Babe of Wabash County. Even though there are many financial assistance programs for people in need, our family made too much money to qualify for assistance, but not enough to meet our needs. Babe of Whitley County was a source of light for our family during times of struggle. I purchased items by collecting coupons for taking my kids to places in our community that promoted good health, education, and connection. Story time at the library, regular doctor visits, and many other great activities earned our family Babe coupons that we used to buy many necessities for our young children.
Babe is a spin-off of a larger organization called B.A.B.E (Beds And Britches, Etc.) B.A.B.E. can be found in many different counties in Indiana. Babe of Wabash County is an incentive based program that partners with businesses and organizations in the county who promote good health, education, and connections. When parents take their children (pregnancy-5-years-old) to Babe partners, they will earn coupons. These coupons can be redeemed at our store for much needed baby items like diapers, wipes, clothing, cribs, carseats, etc. In addition, we also want to offer classes and support groups. Feeling connected and building relationships with other families and organizations in the community is a powerful need among people today.
Babe of Wabash County is a project under the COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF WABASH COUNTY and is not income based and open to all types of families: biological parents, step parents, single parents, adoptive parents, guardians, foster parents, and grandparents. The Community Foundation will gladly accept any financial gifts on our behalf.

Supporting families and the community
What is Babe?
Babe of Wabash County has three goals: to promote good health, education, and relationships with families in Wabash County who have children between the ages of pregnancy and five-years-old. We believe that in order to have a successful community, success starts at home. We also believe that our greatest service to the people of Wabash County will be by providing classes to help educate parents on good parenting skills and healthy lifestyle practices. There will also be a focus on getting kids preschool and kindergarten ready. By attending classes and support groups, we hope to help facilitate the creation of new and lasting relationships of families by connecting them with businesses and organizations that provide useful and essential services needed for the health and benefit of their children, as well as connections to other families and staff at Babe.
How does Babe promote good health, education, and connection?
We promote these values through an incentive based program. For example: When families visit the doctor for well-baby check-ups or they go to the library for storytime, they will receive a coupon that is worth $5 in value. Families can take these coupons to the Babe Store and redeem them for baby items such as diapers, wipes, clothing, furniture, and other much needed baby/toddler items. While at the Babe Store, families will enjoy connecting with other families through our classes, playdates, support groups, and other relevant activities.
